Obama’s Philadelphia rally: Flying books and a naked protester

We have come a long way from the days of people falling into rapture over Obama. 

UK Daily Mail: This is the astonishing moment a book was apparently hurled at the head of U.S. President Barack Obama during a campaign rally in Philadelphia.

The flying missile narrowly missed hitting the President today.

It is not clear what the book was, where it came from in the crowd, or why it was thrown at Mr Obama - who did not appear to notice the danger.[…]

The rally was clearly an eventful one - other images showed a naked man being led away in handcuffs by police. 

It is not clear if the man was involved in the book-throwing incident - or why he was not wearing any clothes. 

The bizarre incident recalled the moment in 2008 when an angry Iraqi journalist hurled a shoe at then-U.S. President George Bush during a press conference in Baghdad. 

Obama could use some of George Bush’s bobbing and weaving skills.  In the video below, Obama doesn’t even notice the book (see the 4:38 mark). Compare and contrast with Dubya who was acting like a master Dodgeball champ.

Another Hope Dope is starting to feel hopeless

Add Greg Smith to the growing list of Hope Dopes who are starting to realize that the Hope and Change flavor Kool Aid is starting to wear off.

New York Post: The day President Obama announced he was running for the White House was the happiest day in our household. On that day, Feb. 10, 2007, I became a volunteer for the campaign.

I knocked on doors in my neighborhood of Kensington, Brooklyn. I started talking to strangers about Obama on the subway. I told people they needed to pay attention to this guy and read his book, "The Audacity of Hope."

After The Post ran a story about me, Obama called me personally and asked me to tell my story at a New York fund-raiser.

At his Cooper Union speech on March 27, 2008, Obama hugged me and said, "This is my guy in New York."

I went to volunteer full time for Obama and was soon hired as an organizer for the campaign.[…]

Two years later, I'm living a more sober reality.

My life is not better. I'm a college graduate and I still can't get a good job.

I'm back working as a doorman at a Manhattan hotel earning peanuts because my wife was diagnosed with breast cancer and I need the health insurance again.

I share the same sentiments of Velma Hart, the woman who confronted Obama at a town hall last week, saying she was tired of defending him. The idea of leaving New York is even on the table.

Obama has let professional politicians take over the White House -- and our dream of change.

I know it's childish to expect solutions to happen overnight. Obama inherited a big old mess, and I don't expect him to have everything figured out after 18 months.

But we're only human and we want to see some visible change.

I'm trying to keep up my hope -- but I'm afraid that instead of being that guy who knocked on doors in Denver, I'm now the person who needs convincing. 

I suspect Greg Smith was one of the millions of blacks who could not bring themselves to look beyond the color of Obama’s skin and really examine Obama’s record (or lack thereof).  So many blacks I know pulled the lever for Obama simply out of racial simpatico and not because they knew what the brother was pushing. Perhaps these brothers and sisters thought that electing a black president would somehow translate into a Golden Age for American blacks. 

Unfortunately, the sad truth is, the color of any president will have little to no impact on us, instead it is the policies of that president that will affect us the most. Greg Smith and Velma Hart about to learn this truth the hard way, by having their hopes and dreams smashed against the rocks of reality.

Losing their religion: The Kool Aid of Hope and Change is wearing off

Last week we witness the scales fall from the eyes of a few long time Kool Aid drinkers.  Starting with Obama’s disastrous town hall meeting, where The Won got an earful from some very unhappy Obots.  Viral video superstar Velma Hart eloquently put to words what must be on the minds of every Obama supporter who thought Hope and Change was all about puppy dogs and rainbows.

Ted Brassfield also voiced his disillusionment over Hope and Change.

 

Today I read that Shepard Fairey, creator of the iconic Hope and Change poster is starting to waiver.

National Journal: The artist whose poster of Barack Obama became a rallying image during the hope-and-change election of 2008 says he understands why so many people have lost faith.

In an exclusive interview with National Journal on Thursday, Shepard Fairey expressed his disappointment with the president -- a malaise that seems representative of many Democrats who had great expectations for Obama.[…] 

"There's a lot of stuff completely out of Obama's control or any of the Democrats' control," Fairey allowed. "But I think there's something a little deeper in terms of the optimism of the younger voter that's happening. They wanted somebody who was going to fight against the status quo, and I don't think that Obama has done that."

While all of these Kool Aid drinkers are now openly admitting their disappointment, they still have not crossed that Rubicon that tells them they swallowed gallons of Kool Aid.  Just like drug addicts and alcoholics who begin to turn their lives around, these folks need to hit the absolute bottom before they realize they have a problem. I suspect two more years of Obama might just be the cure.

Video: The first Hillary 2012 Ad

CNN: The commercial was paid for by a Chicago dentist named William DeJean.

When asked why he put the ad up, DeJean told CNN Thursday that "I'm a dentist and I don't think this country is headed in the right direction."

Regarding Clinton, DeJean says "I think she is the most qualified."

DeJean adds that he thinks people are having buyer's remorse about President Barack Obama and says the current administration is ruining the Democratic Party. He says he spent $5,000 to create the commercial and tells CNN that besides New Orleans, the ad will run in Washington, New York and Los Angeles, and possible Houston. DeJean says he chose to first run the ad in New Orleans because he's a native of the city and because the city's in the news due to the fifth anniversary of Hurricane Katrina.

"I didn't expect to see any ads about 2012 before the midterms in 2010, although this will likely not be a big TV buy, Mr. DeJean clearly is motivated to see change," says Evan Tracey, Campaign Media Analysis Group and CNN's consultant on political TV ad spending.

According to data from CMAG, DeJean paid to run ads supporting Clinton during the 2008 presidential campaign. Clinton, senator from New York at the time, battled then Sen. Obama of Illinois in a marathon and historic Democratic primary season, nearly becoming the woman to win a major party presidential nomination, before ending her bid and endorsing Obama in June 2008. I think this is just the first of many more to come.  If the Democrats receive the full beat down they so richly deserve in November, I expect full war between Democrats to break out shortly after.  As the blame game gets into full swing, expect the “we should have gone with Hillary” meme to get louder and louder.

While some on the left may feel a Hillary 2012 campaign would save the party, they should think again.  Think back to the 2008 debates, how many times was it noted that there were no difference between Obama and Hillary on the issues.  Any Republican can use that to make the point that the only difference between Hillary and Obama is packaging. Either way, you still get the same lousy liberal policies!

Sign of the times: The Obama Bumper Sticker (BS) Removal Kit

Don’t you just love how the free market knows how to capitalize on everything? I am surprised someone did not think of this sooner. Where I live, there were a slew of Hope and Change Kool Aid drinkers. Cars around here were plastered with Obama bumper stickers. Today only one of my neighbors still sports one. I think I know what I will be getting him for Christmas.

The Thrill Is Gone Baby

Remember during the campaign how Obama seemed to bring about rapture amongst some of his audience. They were fainting from the mere sound of his voice. My, my, my what a difference a year and a half makes.

Check out the young brother fighting (and losing) to stay awake as The Won drones on and on. Oh, and don’t think for a hot second I did not notice that Obama used a teleprompter to speak to high school students.

 

WOOD TV: KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) - One of the Kalamazoo Central students -- who was seated behind keynote speaker President Barack Obama during Monday night's commencement ceremony -- fell asleep.

The student, who earned such a prime seat by singing in the choir, was captured on video due to his proximity to the president. He also was a hot topic on Twitter and the subject of several recently created Facebook pages.
