Voting laws: How helpless and hapless do liberals think minorities are?

I have been hearing a steady liberal whine lately about how Republicans are bringing back Jim Crow by making changes to voting laws. Debbie Wasserman Schultz was the first Democrat to make this whine. Since she is the DNC chair, I think it is safe to assume that her initial whine can be considered marching orders for the rest of the party.

Today EJ Dionne, dutiful leftist media hack, picks up that whine in his Washington Post column.
An attack on the right to vote is underway across the country through laws designed to make it more difficult to cast a ballot. If this were happening in an emerging democracy, we’d condemn it as election-rigging. But it’s happening here, so there’s barely a whimper.
The laws are being passed in the name of preventing “voter fraud.” But study after studyhas shown that fraud by voters is not a major problem — and is less of a problem than how hard many states make it for people to vote in the first place. Some of the new laws, notably those limiting the number of days for early voting, have little plausible connection to battling fraud.
These statutes are not neutral. Their greatest impact will be to reduce turnout among African Americans, Latinos and the young. It is no accident that these groups were key to Barack Obama’s victory in 2008 — or that the laws in question are being enacted in states where Republicans control state governments. [...]
In part because of a surge of voters who had not cast ballots before, the United States elected its first African American president in 2008. Are we now going to witness a subtle return of Jim Crow voting laws?
So what are these laws that EJ Dionne find so Jim Crow like? Let's take a look:
The laws in question include requiring voter identification cards at the polls, limiting the time of early voting, ending same-day registration and making it difficult for groups to register new voters.
Let's examine each of these "problematic" laws.

First, the requirement of valid ID to vote, has to be one of the oldest canards ever. Asking anyone, black, white, purple, green or yellow for valid ID at the voting booth is just plain common sense. How is it that something as precious as your vote should not require valid ID, but something as meaningless as a video store membership does? What truly gets me about this phony ID argument is that the same Democrats who see racism in asking for valid ID to vote, do not see racism in asking for valid ID for the very social programs they peddle to minorities.

When it comes to limiting early voting, I am still scratching my head trying to figure out how this is Jim Crow like. Quite frankly, I don't know why anyone would want to vote weeks or a month in advance of an election day.  Remember back in 2000 when it was discovered the night before the election day that Bush had a past DUI? Well, if you voted early and you found that information troubling, there is nothing you could have done to have changed your vote. Early voting really just helps politicians bank votes before election day. The more votes they can bank before election day, the less they have to worry about screwing up in the final stretch.

Again I still cannot see how limiting the number of days of early voting is racist. Unless of course you believe that minorities are too lazy to make it to the polls on election day, now that is racist.

Same day voter registration is clearly designed for voter fraud. There are years between elections, so why does someone need to wait all the way until election day to register to vote? How is it even possible for election boards to verify a voter on the same day they are allowed to vote? Couple same day registration with weak ID, like student IDs and you are off to Voter Fraud City. Again how is eliminating same day voting racist, unless you believe minorities are incapable of getting the act together in a timely fashion.

Finally regarding groups registering people to vote. We have seen all the fun and games that goes on with ACORN's voter drives. Again, what is so difficult that any individual (minority or otherwise) cannot just register to vote on their own?

Voting, like all our rights, come with responsibilities. You are responsible for getting your act together to vote. That means studying candidates records, learning the issues, registering in a timely fashion and yes, safeguarding your vote against fraud. The idea that minorities need special gimmicks, special rules or extra time to accomplish these responsibilities both insulting and racist.

Ugly Video: Race baiting Democrat pits Latinos against Asians

“The Vietnamese and the Republicans are, with an intensity, trying to take away this seat, this seat that we have done so much for our community, take away this seat from us and give it to this Van Tran, who’s very anti-immigrant and very anti-Latino.”
There is only one word to describe what this chick is doing and that word is UGLY! It certainly is no surprise to see a Democrat race bait against Republicans.  Gee, what would an election cycle be without race baiting Democrats?  What is new and truly ugly, is that this gal is trying to pit Latinos against Asians all for the sake of keep herself elected.

I wonder if racial strife between Latinos and Asians ever erupted in that community, if this woman would own up to her responsibility for causing it?  I doubt it.  She would probably go about herself serving business until the next election cycle, when she would whip out her big spoon and start stirring the racial pot once again.

Harry Reid goes racial again: "I don't know how anyone of Hispanic heritage could be a Republican."

Harry, Harry, Harry, you sour puss cracker! Just cannot leave that race card alone for five minutes can you? After comparing opposition to ObamaCare to those who opposed the abolition of slavery and then making that Negro dialect comment about Obama, Harry Reid has decided he knows what is best for Hispanics.
The Weekly Standard: While campaigning in Nevada Tuesday, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid told an audience of mostly Hispanic voters: "I don't know how anyone of Hispanic heritage could be a Republican, okay. Do I need to say more?" Watch the video here:

For starters, Harry Reid might want to try speaking with some Cuban Americans.  After experiencing extreme leftist policies first hand, many of them could write volumes about why they are Republicans.

Another person Harry Reid should talk to on the subject would be Hispanic Republican Brian Sandoval. Sandoval is currently beating the pants of Harry Reid’s son Rory Reid in Nevada’s gubernatorial race.

For a real eye opener, Harry Reid should talk to my friend Samuel Gonzalez author of The Last Tradition. In an email we shared this morning on this topic, Samuel had this to say:
Harry Reid the Noble Racist
As a Latino and strong Conservative, I won’t say I was personally offended by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid’s recent comments when he told Latinos on the campaign trail, "I don't know how anyone of Hispanic heritage could be a Republican, okay. Do I need to say more?"
I’m not offended, but Hispanics in Navada and across the nation should be!
They should  be offended because Reid is doing exactly what all Denocrats do to Latinos and Blacks come election time, crack the “mental plantation” whip that keeps Latinos in line.
You see, according to Harry Reid’s mindset, Latinos are an inferior group that cannot achieve anything for themselves without the help of the government or the Democrat Party.
You can call it the "racism of dependency and low expectations".  White Democrats get to practice this type of racism with impunity only because Latinos and Blacks let them get away with it.
These types of comments by Reid and other Democrats will continue because they know it works with the target audience.
So as a Latino who voted for Ronald Reagan, I ask my fellow Latinos and Blacks, how long will you continue to support a party that expects nothing from you except your votes to keep their party afloat?  A party that says to you through lies and deception that they are your only protectors and hide their true history of being the original enslavers of Black people.
How long will you succumb to “group think” that perpetually ties you to one party from birth simply because of the color of your skin?
Can you really call that freedom or is it slavery?
I will let Harry Reid chew on that.

St. Louis Tea Party Condemns NAACP as “bigoted”

If the NAACP thought that it could play the race card against the Tea Party with the same effect it has against Congressional Republicans, the NAACP is going to be in for a rude awakening.

Before the NAACP could pass their anti-Tea Party resolution (away from the public eye), the St. Louis Tea Party got the drop on the NAACP and called the once respectable organization “bigoted”.

Unlike Congressional Republicans whose main concern is reelection, the Tea Party is free to push back against racial hucksters like the NAACP. The Tea Party can call out the NAACP and be as dismissive of the NAACP’s trumped up racial charges, as they want to be.

You know what?  It is about time. The NAACP has abused its illustrious past of good deeds for the sake of becoming the racial attack dogs of white liberals. In the last 18 months the race card has been played so fast and furiously that it is beginning to lose all meaning. The NAACP’s charges of racism no longer sound like the growl of a Pitbull, instead more and more they are starting to sound like the annoying yap of a Chihuahua.

NAACP gets Hallmark to pull “racist” graduation card

Fox News: LOS ANGELES --- A space-themed, talking Hallmark graduation card is being pulled from store shelves because of the card’s reference to a black hole.
But members of the Los Angeles NAACP say the message sounds like "black whore" in the card's audio recording. That's how they hear it, and they say it's racist,  KABC-TV in Los Angeles reported.
"That was very demeaning to African-American women when it made reference to African-American women as whores, and at the end it says 'watch your back,'" said Leon Jenkins of the Los Angeles NAACP.
The Hallmark card reads, "Hey world, we are officially putting you on notice," before playfully touting the ambitious future of the new graduate.
Characters known as "Hoops" and "Yoyo" banter on: "And you black holes, you are so ominous. Watch your back."
Hallmark calls the outrage a misunderstanding, claiming that the space theme emphasizes the power the graduate has to take over the universe, even energy-absorbing black holes.
"The intent here is to say that this graduate is not afraid of anything," explained Hallmark spokesman Steve Doyal.
Apparently, NAACP members heard something different.
Could the NAACP be any more useless to the black community? This has to be the most ignorant $%*@ I ever heard! I am truly embarrassed by these clowns. This is a classic example of how the Raaaaacism Industrial Complex makes up racism out of thin air.

LA NAACP = Epic Fail!

Conservative Black Woman and The Last Tradition both have an excellent take on this piece of manufactured racism.

WTF?!? CNN: Obama cannot get angry because he is a black man?

Good Lord Almighty! The Raaaaacism Industrial Complex has gone into overdrive. Check out this hot mess from John Blake at CNN:
Here's proof that President Obama has indeed ushered in a new era in race relations.
Who would have ever expected some white Americans to demand that an African-American man show more rage?
If you've followed the Gulf of Mexico oil disaster, you've heard the complaints that Obama isn't showing enough emotion.
But scholars say Obama's critics ignore a lesson from American history: Many white Americans don't like angry black men.
It's the lesson Obama absorbed from his upbringing, and from an impromptu remark he delivered last summer. Yet it's a lesson he may now have to jettison, they say, as public outrage spreads.
"Folks are waiting for a Samuel Jackson 'Snakes on the Plane' moment from this president as in: 'We gotta' get this $#@!!* oil back in the $#!!* rig!' But that's just not who Obama is,'' says Saladin Ambar, a political science professor at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.
Some of the same people crying for Obama to show more emotion would have voted against him if he had displayed anger during his presidential run, says William Jelani Cobb, author of "The Substance of Hope: Barack Obama and the Paradox of Progress."
"It would have fed deeply into a pre-existing set of narratives about the angry black man," Cobb says. "The anger would have gotten in the way. He would have frightened off white voters who were interested in him because he seemed to be like the black guy they worked with or went to graduate school with -- not a black guy who is threatening." [MORE]
You must be kidding me. I cannot believe Blake is trying to use racism as an excuse for Obama’s failings. I am telling you; at this rate the old race card will be in tatters by 2012.

This “angry black man” argument doesn’t hold water for a minute. First of all, I would imagine that any white person who gets freaked out at the sight of an "angry black man", probably did not vote for Obama in 2008 and probably won’t come 2012. So why should Obama even be concerned about offending them?

Secondly, I still don’t understand why the left is insisting on Obama showing emotion over the oil spill. What the situation calls for is competence not emotion.  We are more than 50 days from the start of this disaster, yet people in the Gulf are still asking for the basics to protect their shores and BP is still playing games with information on the size and scope of the spill. This is the result of Obama’s incompetent managing of the situation and not the result of his lack of emotion.

If I was a white person and I read Blake’s article or saw the segment below my days of watching CNN would be soooo over.

What were they thinking? The Black Only Field Trip

I first heard about this story on Twitter and thought it might have been one of those crazy things people say on the Internet. However, when I check it out, sure enough it was real.
An Ann Arbor elementary school principal used a letter home to parents tonight to defend a field trip for black students as part of his school’s efforts to close the achievement gap between white and black students.
Dicken Elementary School Principal Mike Madison wrote the letter to parents following several days of controversy at the school after a field trip last week in which black students got to hear a rocket scientist.
“In hindsight, this field trip could have been approached and arranged in a better way," Madison wrote. "But as I reflect upon the look of excitement, enthusiasm and energy that I saw in these children’s eyes as they stood in the presence of a renowned African American rocket scientist in a very successful position, it gave the kids an opportunity to see this type of achievement is possible for even them.
“It was not a wasted venture for I know one day they might want to aspire to be the first astronaut or scientist standing on the Planet Mars.
“I also think it’s important that you know that I have talked to the children who did not go on the field trip, and I think they have a better understanding of the purpose of the AA Lunch Bunch now, as I hope you do. I’m sorry if any kids were upset by the field trip or my discussion afterwards with them, and I have let them know that.
“The intent of our field trip was not to segregate or exclude students as has been reported, but rather to address the societal issues, roadblocks and challenges that our African American children will face as they pursue a successful academic education here in our community.”
If I were one of the parents who got this letter my question to Mr. Madison would be, what is it that would prevent black students from experiencing excitement, enthusiasm and energy if children from other races were around? I would ask this question because for the life of me, I cannot see any good reason.

What this program of exclusion reminds me of is how socialism really works. The way socialism works is that it does not really elevate the poor or middle class. Instead, what socialism does is to bring down the wealthy to the level of the poor. In this case, Mr. Madison is attempting to pretend to elevate black student’s achievement by bringing down the educational opportunities of children from other races. Not cool, Mr. Madison.

Who is the mystery man at the health care protest?

Big Government is hunting down all the video it can find of the March 20 health care protest, to find the Tea Partiers chanting the N-word. Still no such video can be found, however in their search they did find a mystery man.
BigGovernment: While scouring the thousands of videos that exist on YouTube from the March 20th health care bill protests in Washington DC, we were able to uncover four different angles of the Cannon Office Building at the precise moment Rep. Andre Carson and Rep. John Lewis descended the steps on their way to Capitol Hill.
We have noticed that there is a mystery man positioned at the bottom of the steps of the Cannon Building with a video camera.  He is in the exact position to capture the moment that Rep. Carson later described to reporters.  He is dressed in a dark suit and he is wearing some kind of credential on his jacket.
Who is this guy?

My best guess, congressional aide. The CBC members were clearly expecting something when they took their walk across the street. Jesse Jackson Jr. had two cameras rolling and another fellow in the group also had a camera rolling. So it would not surprise me if they had a congressional aide waiting at the ready.

If any of you readers know who this guy is, email BigGovernment: tips@biggovernment.com

Norah O’Donnell working overtime at the Raaaaacism Industrial Complex

While MSNBC is no stranger to manufacturing racism on behalf of the Raaaaacism Industrial Complex, there are limits to the imagination. Yesterday, Raaaaacism Industrial Complex member Norah O’Donnell stretched those limits a wee bit too far in her attempt to find something racist in Newt Gingrich’s speech at the Southern Republican Leadership Conference (SRLC).

From JammieWearingFool: MSNBC’s Norah O’Donnell on Friday went too far for even her colleagues at the liberal cable channel, receiving mockery for her assertion that Newt Gingrich made racially charged remarks about Barack Obama. At the Southern Republican Leadership Conference, Thursday, the former GOP leader commented that “shooting three-point shots may be clever.”
Speaking of the President’s basketball skills, Gingrich added, “But it doesn’t put anybody to work. And what we need is a president, not an athlete. We need somebody who actually focuses on getting people back to work.” After the clip was played, Morning Joe guest host O’Donnell lobbed her accusation at Gingrich.
“But I’m not sure what he means by this particular sound bite,” said O’Donnell. “And I think it’s open to some criticism because it suggests that the president is an athlete and some people may suggest, you know, because all black people are good athletes. I mean that’s what it sort of sounds like to me.”
The rest of the Morning Joe panel scoffed at O’Donnell’s claim, erupting in a flurry of dismissiveness

You know why O’Donnell really did this?  Because she realizes that the left gets to use Political Correctness to define what they consider “acceptable speech”.  As such they can arbitrarily assert what is or isn’t racist. Just look at the word socialism. Prior to Obama you could call anyone a socialist and it never had anything to do with racism.  Today however, when Obama pushes his socialist policies there is a need to end that debate, thus the left arbitrarily makes the word “socialist” a new code word for hate speech. It is pretty transparent and oh so very pathetic.

Even though the concept of creating of new code words is pretty straight forward, it does require a wee bit of finesse, and clearly ham fisted O’Donnell lacks that finesse.  Back to Racism Manufacturing 101 Ms. O’ Donnell, you dunce!

Michael Steele plays the race card ... again

Here we go again! This is so weak and weasely I am actually embarrassed.  For crying out loud even Robert Gibbs can see right through this nonsense.
GOP Chairman Michael Steele shouldn’t blame criticism of his actions on race, White House press secretary Robert Gibbs said Monday.
Gibbs called Steele’s remark that criticism of his leadership is motivated by race “silly” during a meeting with reporters.
“I think Michael Steele’s problem isn’t the race card, it’s the credit card,” Gibbs added.
Last week’s Daily Caller story about the RNC’s lavish spending and a trip to a sex club is they type of story that would put any chairman under the hot lights, color be damn. You cannot go around telling the electorate the GOP is the party of fiscal sanity, while at the same time the RNC is partying like it is 1999. It reeks of hypocrisy and it is the type of hypocrisy that makes donors slam their wallets shut, just like Sam Fox did today.

One of the reasons why I slammed my wallet shut to the RNC is because I did not see the RNC adhering to conservative principles. Sad to say, under Steele’s leadership, I still don’t see it.

What Michael Steele needs to do is to stop the self promotion, knock off the endless TV appearances and start working on building a brand that inspires confidence with the American people.

Steve Cohen Welcome to the Raaaaacism Industrial Complex

The Raaaaacism Industrial Complex picked up a new member today. During an interview with The Young Turks, Rep. Steve Cohen (D-TN) smeared the Tea Party as Klansmen, George Wallace and even mocks McCain’s POW experience.

The odd thing is Cohen is Jewish and was smeared by another Democrat two years ago during the primaries. Since he cannot see the strong vein of anti Semitism running through his own party, why is this guy fit to talk about racism anywhere else?

The unraveling of the Tea Party racial smear

Bit by bit and piece-by-piece, the alleged incident where Tea Party protesters hurled racial slurs at black congress members starts to unravel. What is starting to emerge is an image that the media and Democrats planned the whole thing in advanced.

Lets start with this video below by Jack Cashill at The American Thinker. It recaps the events that day and points out various oddities.

The McClatchy news story is where new clues to media collusion begin.  Jack Cashill takes a look at the timeline of the McCatchy story and finds some super human writing, editing, formatting and publishing skills.
[...]In composing it, I checked with my source on the scene, Greg Farrell, to get a timeline on the passage of the Black Caucus members from the Cannon Building to the Capitol and back.  According to Farrell, they left the Cannon Building about 2:30 PM on March 20th and returned about 3:15 PM.  He had no reason to exaggerate.
I asked because at 4:51 that same day, McClatchy reporter William Douglas posted an article on the McClatchy website with the inflammatory headline, "Tea party protesters scream 'nigger' at black congressman."
In other words, Douglas, with an attributed assist from James Rosen, managed to interview representatives John Lewis, Emanuel Cleaver, and Barney Frank, compose an 800-word article, and have it edited and formatted for posting within a 90-minute window.
During that same 90 minutes, Douglas would have received and incorporated a press release from Emanuel Cleaver, making the easily disproved claim that he had "been spat upon and that Capitol Police had arrested his assailant."[...]
In addition to the speedy publishing, the McClatchy reporter William Douglas references both the Huffington Post and Boston Globe in his article. Here is the kicker, both the Huffington Post and the Boston Globe stories were not published until AFTER the McClatchy piece.
But Douglas also had two other important sources: he referenced two additional journalists in the very same article.
Frank told the Boston Globe that the incident happened as he was walking from the Longworth office building to the Rayburn office building, both a short distance from the Capitol. Frank said the crowd consisted of a couple of hundred of people and that they referred to him as 'homo.' A writer for The Huffington Post said the protesters called Frank a "faggot."
But the Huffington Post's article, by Sam Stein, wasn't published until 4:56pm, five minutes afterDouglas' article was posted on the web. This mistake would seem to point to wanton collusion between the two authors as they hastily worked to market the smears. [...]
What about the Boston Globe?
It appears that the first Boston Globe article to mention the incident didn't actually hit the website until the following day.

So let’s recap. We have Congressional Black Caucus members walking through a mob of protesters when they could have easily and safely taken the underground tunnels. Two of the Congressional Black Caucus members had video cameras in hand but no recording of the alleged racial slurs. Next we have a McClatchy reporter interviewing CBC members and publishing a story about the alleged incident in record speed. In addition the McClatchy reporter breaks the time space continuum and references sources from two articles that had yet to be published.

To date not a single video or audio of the alleged incident has yet to emerge, despite Andrew Breitbart offering a $10,000 reward [Breitbart has since upped the ante to $100,000].

Now as this whole story starts to unravel, Congressman Emanuel Cleaver seems to be backtracking on his part in the story.
From Weasel Zippers: KANSAS CITY, MO- U.S. Rep. Emanuel Cleaver voted in favor of the controversial health care reform bill, but talk isn't raging about how voted, but whether or not he was purposely spit on as he and other congressmen made their way to the U.S. Capitol building to cast their vote.
In video of the incident, a man is seen with his hands around his mouth and yelling at the Kansas City, Missouri, Democrat as he walked by. The footage shows Rep. Cleaver reacting to the man, and is seen a few seconds later wiping his face.
The video is not clear as to whether or not the man spit in Cleaver's face intentionally, or if it was a matter of "say it, don't spray it." Rep. Cleaver never commented on the incident, but it didn't take long before many people claimed that he was spit upon.

In an interview on Tuesday with FOX 4 News, Rep. Cleaver would not directly answer the question of whether or not he was intentionally spit upon.

"I haven't talked about this incident on TV or anywhere, and I've been approached to talk about it on every national TV show," said Rep. Cleaver in an interview with FOX 4 News. "I never, I never reported anything, never a single thing in Washington, not one thing. People assume I went somewhere, never done press conference, never done an interview on it and I'm not going to do it."
Rest here>>>

As this story starts to look more and more like a big fat lie, I would love to know how do any of these people sleep at night?  Racism is a nasty wound in America that is never given a chance to heal. Real racists and racial hucksters are forever picking at it. Regrettably too many in the black community accept stories of racism at face value, especially when presented in the context of left vs. right. Knowing this, how completely irresponsible is it for those in the media to incite racial distrust within the black community in order to advance a political agenda? I find such actions completely evil.

I wonder how would those in the media, who push this story, feel if some young black person ended up throwing away a good chunk of their life by committing physical violence against a white tea party protester, all because he or she believed the media’s reporting?  Would these reporters despise themselves for their irresponsibility or would they simply chalk up another ruined black life as the ends justify the means?

UPDATE: Video added

Here is the video of Emanuel Cleaver’s interview with Fox 4.

Really Mr. Cleaver? Please explain your office’s press release. It sure reads like you were stoking the flames, especially since Capitol Police say they made no arrests.

UPDATE 6:55 PM ET: Rep. Emanuel Cleaver's office released the following statement:
For many of the members of the CBC, like John Lewis and Emanuel Cleaver who worked in the civil rights movement, and for Mr. Frank who has struggled in the cause of equality, this is not the first time they have been spit on during turbulent times.

This afternoon, the Congressman was walking into the Capitol to vote, when one protester spat on him. The Congressman would like to thank the US Capitol Police officer who quickly escorted the others Members and him into the Capitol, and defused the tense situation with professionalism and care. After all the Members were safe, a full report was taken and the matter was handled by the US Capitol Police. The man who spat on the Congressman was arrested, but the Congressman has chosen not to press charges. He has left the matter with the Capitol Police.
This is not the first time the Congressman has been called the "n" word and certainly not the worst assault he has endured in his years fighting for equal rights for all Americans. That being said, he is disappointed that in the 21st century our national discourse has devolved to the point of name calling and spitting. He looks forward to taking a historic vote on health care reform legislation tomorrow, for the residents of the Fifth District of Missouri and for all Americans. He believes deeply that tomorrow's vote is, in fact, a vote for equality and to secure health care as a right for all. Our nation has a history of struggling each time we expand rights. Today's protests are no different, but the Congressman believes this is worth fighting for.
