The Hits Just Keep on Coming: NPR CEO Vivian Schiller resigns

After yesterday's sting video aired, blabber mouth Ron Schiller (no relation) moved up his resignation from NPR. Now NPR CEO Vivian Schiller (again no relation) is out the door.

NPR: Vivian Schiller quickly condemned Ron Schiller's comments, and he moved up an already-announced decision to leave NPR and resigned effectively immediately. But Ron Schiller's gaffe followed last fall'sdismissal of NPR political analyst Juan Williams, for which Vivian Schiller came under harsh criticism and NPR's top news executive, Ellen Weiss, resigned.

NPR just sent this statement from NPR Board of Directors Chairman Dave Edwards to its staff and member stations:

"It is with deep regret that I tell you that the NPR Board of Directors has accepted the resignation of Vivian Schiller as President and CEO of NPR, effective immediately.

"The Board accepted her resignation with understanding, genuine regret, and great respect for her leadership of NPR these past two years.

"Vivian brought vision and energy to this organization. She led NPR back from the enormous economic challenges of the previous two years. She was passionately committed to NPR's mission, and to stations and NPR working collaboratively as a local-national news network.

"According to a CEO succession plan adopted by the Board in 2009, Joyce Slocum, SVP of Legal Affairs and General Counsel, has been appointed to the position of Interim CEO. The Board will immediately establish an Executive Transition Committee that will develop a timeframe and process for the recruitment and selection of new leadership.

"I recognize the magnitude of this news – and that it comes on top of what has been a traumatic period for NPR and the larger public radio community. The Board is committed to supporting NPR through this interim period and has confidence in NPR's leadership team."

Once again NPR's mask has slipped and once again we see another left wing organization hiding behind "objectivity" as they leech off the taxpayer. Sorry NPR, but the cat is out of the bag and a change of faces simply will not do.

Weasel Alert: Congress Chris Lee resigns after cheating on his wife on Craigslist

Oh man, is this guy stupid!  Congressman Chris Lee (R-NY) is a 46 year old married man, who was going around answering ads on Craigslist like he was a divorced 39 year old.  Needless to say he got busted big time and had to resign.  You can read all the gory details here.


What is it about public figures on the left and the right, that makes them think they can privately cheat on their spouses? Hellooooo, what part of PUBLIC figure do they not understand?


The Other McCain makes two great points.

First: (Via Memeorandum.) Let me explain something: If you want to be a member of Congress and screw around, join the Democratic Party. You can screw around all you want and no problem, if you’re a Democrat. But you can’t do that and be a Republican member of Congress.

Amen to that.  Republicans should have figured it out by now, the media will never give them the wiggle room they give Democrats, even if they abandon all morals like Democrats.

Second: UPDATE: Fastest scandal ever! The Internet not only makes it easier for cheaters to cheat, it makes it easier for cheaters to get caught, and the rapidity with which the damning evidence becomes public tends to accelerate the resignation.

Thank goodness, no need for a Charlie Rangle swan song.


I would like to add a third point.  What was he hoping to find on Craigslist?  Isn't Craigslist full of murderers and prostitutes?

UPDATED: Rahm Emanuel To Quit White House?

UK Telegraph: Washington insiders say he will quit within six to eight months in frustration at their unwillingness to "bang heads together" to get policy pushed through.

Mr Emanuel, 50, enjoys a good working relationship with Mr Obama but they are understood to have reached an understanding that differences over style mean he will serve only half the full four-year term.

Friends say he is also worried about burnout and losing touch with his young family due to the pressure of one of most high profile jobs in US politics.

"I would bet he will go after the midterms," said a leading Democratic consultant in Washington. "Nobody thinks it's working but they can't get rid of him – that would look awful. He needs the right sort of job to go to but the consensus is he'll go." [MORE] 

If true, this will be something to look forward to in 2011! Rahm Emanuel is the one the far left blames for almost all of Obama’s policy failures. They see Rahm as the cause for Obama’s compromises on policy (seriously).

Something tells me that Rahm won’t be the only one looking for an exit after midterms. The oil spill has washed away any of the Hopey Changey hype of 2008. What is left will be pretty hard to defend going into 2012.  Add on the inevitable circular firing squad that is sure to follow the massive Democratic losses in November and I am certain Rahm won’t be the only one looking for the door.

If America is really lucky, perhaps some of the White House’s biggest failures will be on the departure list too (paging Eric Holder and Janet Napolitano).

Fox News: Citing Washington insiders, British newspaper The Daily Telegraph said Emanuel was fed up with the "idealism" of President Barack Obama's closest advisers and was concerned about burning out and losing touch with his three children due to the pressure of the job.

In response to the report, a senior White House official told Fox News the "ludicrous" story was "not worth looking into."

That's what they all say, we will see what the real deal is after November.

Helen Thomas retires

The Hill: Helen Thomas announced Monday that "she is retiring, effective immediately," according to a statement from Hearst newspapers.

Her decision comes after her controversial remarks about Israel hit the blogosphere. She later apologized for her comments, saying she "deeply regretted" making them.

Well it looks like old Helen Thomas has finally written a check that her butt couldn’t cash. Pressure for her resignation came in hot and heavy after her now famous YouTube moment.

After parroting the Hamas line, calls for Thomas’ resignation came in from everywhere.  Michele Bachman and Ari Fleischer minced no words in calling for her dismissal. 

Bachmann: Once again the liberal media has shown its true colors! The White House media dinosaur, also known as Helen Thomas has called on Jews to leave Israel and move back to Poland and Germany. This anti-Semitic sentiment has no place in our public discourse. I call upon her employer, Heart Corporation to dismiss her at once! The White House needs to revoke her press credentials immediately.

Her apology is not sufficient, considering her many previous negative sentiments against Israel. Her language is offensive, vulgar and intolerant. 

Fleischer:"She should lose her job over this," Fleischer said in an email. "As someone who is Jewish, and as someone who worked with her and used to like her, I find this appalling."

"She is advocating religious cleansing. How can Hearst stand by her? If a journalist, or a columnist, said the same thing about blacks or Hispanics, they would already have lost their jobs."

Helen’s Thomas’ apology wasn’t enough to calm the calls for her resignation and rightfully so. Thomas has been a long time hard lefty pretending to be an objective journalist. Throughout the Bush administration, it was hard to tell if Thomas was a White House correspondent or a reporter working for Al Jazeera.  Now that she has put herself out to pasture, she can spend her time going to all those far left rallies where she can support illegal immigration, socialism and support Hamas all day long.

Don’t let the door catch your tail on the way out Helen!
