Looking Good! New Photos of Gabrielle Giffords

Politico: Rep. Gabrielle Giffords were posted early Sunday on her Facebook page, two photos that show her with shorter, darker hair but few signs that she suffered a gunshot wound to the head.

The photos were taken May 17 outside the Houston rehabilitation facility where Giffords has been undergoing intensive treatment since she was wounded five months ago at a meet-and-greet event with constituents. Six people died and a dozen others were wounded in the Jan. 8 attack in Tucson, Ariz. 

Since then, access to the Arizona congresswoman has been tightly controlled. Until Sunday, no clear images had been released.[...]

Giffords spokesman C.J. Karamargin said staff members released the photos Sunday to help satisfy “intense interest in the congresswoman’s appearance.”

Because Giffords could be released later this month, her staff worried that her upcoming outpatient treatment could expose her more to public settings and unwanted photography.
“What we wanted to avoid was a paparazzi-like frenzy, and that’s why the photos are being made public,” Karamargin said. [MORE]

I think it was a good idea to release the photos now. Curiosity about her appearance would only intensify as time goes on. Now that the public has an idea what she looks like now, the need to know will be diminished.

I must say, all those prayers for her recover have paid off. You can still see Gabby in the new pics. Once her hair grows back in, she should resemble her old self with little evidence of have taken such a severe would. God, is clearly smiling on this family.

Pentagon shooter John Patrick Bedell dead

The Pentagon shooter John Patrick Bedell has died from his wounds after exchanging gunfire with Pentagon Security officers. The LA Times is reporting that Bedell was a 9/11 Truther and was angry about government enforcement of marijuana laws. 

Washington - The gunman in the Pentagon shootings may have harbored resentment for the military and had doubts about the facts behind the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.

John Patrick Bedell, 36, died after exchanging gunfire with two police officers, both of whom were wounded.

In an Internet posting, a user named JPatrickBedell wrote that he was determined to see justice for the 1991 death of Marine Col. James Sabow in Orange County, which was ruled a suicide but has long been the source of coverup theories. The writer said the case would be a step toward revealing the truth behind the 9/11 "demolitions." 

The same posting railed against the government's enforcement of marijuana laws and included links to the author's 2006 court case in Orange County for cultivating marijuana and resisting a police officer. 

Court records available online show the date of birth on the case mentioned by the user JPatrickBedell matches that of the John Patrick Bedell who was killed after opening fire outside the Pentagon. 

So in the newly popular "Ideological Game", do we attribute this shooting to Glenn Beck or Keith Olbermann?  Perhaps we should all just grow up and start blaming these incidents on the nut cases who carry them out.

UPDATED: Pentagon on lockdown: Shooting at Pentagon Metro Station

There has been a shooting outside the Pentagon at the Pentagon Metro Station. The shots were fired around 6:30 PM EST.  It is reported that three people were injured.  Fox News is reporting that two of the three were Pentagon Security officers

Fox News: The Pentagon is on lockdown.

The officers and one other unknown person were taken to George Washington University Hospital's emergency room, officials said. Their condition was not immediately known.

The Metro entrance is yards away from the Pentagon.

The Blue-Yellow line at the Pentagon station is closed.

No one is being allowed in or out of the Pentagon.

Clearly we will be hearing a lot more about this as the story develops. I am especially curious about knowing how and why the Pentagon Security officers were involved

UPDATE: Shooter identified as John Patrick Bedell

The suspect was identified as John Patrick Bedell, sources told ABC News and The Associated Press, which added that he was 36 years old. Keevill would only say the suspect was "an American citizen, as far as I know."

"The officers were emphatic about saying he was very calm, that there was no distress," Keevill said. "He had his arms down at his pocket. We see folks come up to the Pentagon every day that have their passes in different places. He reached into his pocket. They assumed he was going to get his pass out. He came out with a gun and just started shooting." 

The two Pentagon Security officers received only grazing injuries, while Bedell’s injuries were much more severe. All were taken to George Washington Hospital in DC.
