Copycats: Liberals to hold their own Beck-like rally on Oct 2

They say imitation is the highest form of flattery.  If that is the case, Glenn Beck should be quite flattered by this news.
leaders, liberal religious leaders and the NAACP will hold a rally on the National Mall on October 2, one month before the fall midterm elections, in an attempt to show they too have political clout and momentum in response to last Saturday’s massive gathering of Tea Party types led by Fox News host Glenn Beck.

“The AFL-CIO is determined that the Tea Party and its corporate backers are not going to get the final word,” said AFL-CIO executive vice president Arlene Holt Baker. “We will expect tens of thousands of union families to come.”

Besides the NAACP, the Oct. 2 rally will be supported and organized by other labor organizations such as the SEIU and the American Federation of Teachers.[…]

And Jim Wallis, a liberal evangelical leader who is CEO of Sojourners, will lend a religious flavor to the event.

“As people of all faiths, backgrounds, beliefs, orientations and heritages, we must move this country forward beyond divisiveness and hate, to rebuild and reclaim our destiny,” Wallis said in a press release put out by the group formed to promote the rally, One Nation Working Together.
Clearly something about Beck’s rally struck a nerve on the left. Otherwise why do they feel the need to mimic the event?  The fact that this event will be organized by unions and leftist organizations rather than one man saying “please join me”, is pretty telling.  It says that there is no one person on the left with enough influence to get 300,000 people to come on their own accord.
No matter how many people show up to this copycat event, I fully expect the media to treat it like the entire world attended. I also expect the media to drone on about how much more diversity there is at the event, no matter what the ratio of black to white will be.
In the end, the left will get to “feel” good about their selves, but as far as the event switching the mood of the country towards leftist policies, nothing will change.

I Call BS! Ed Schultz says he can out draw Glenn Beck

When it comes to toot one’s own horn, there are two types of people. There are boasters and there are BS-ers. The difference between the two is accomplishment. For example, when Steve Jobs boasts about the performance of the new iPhone 4G, he had the wild success of the previous iPhones to back him up. Now, when you don’t have anything to back up your claims you sound like MSNBC talker Ed Schultz:

Where has this guy ever drawn a crowd anything near the size of Beck’s rally?  I don’t think Schultz even has 300,000 regular listeners on either of his shows. The most telling thing about Schultz’s statement is need for union help to pull it off.

SCHULTZ (07:00): Hold it right there! Before we get to her answer, I could get every union head in this country, I could organize every progressive group in this country, the main bloggers. This could be The Ed March. Folks, 300,000 people on the heels of six months' promotion, that ain't no big shakes!

Six months' promotion, NBC News says 300,000 people. I bet I could do that! I bet I could do that with this radio show and my TV show and six months' production, six months' promotion, if I had the budget I could equal that march. I know I could!

I guarantee you, I could do more than 300,000! It ain't a big deal!

I say go for it Ed! I don’t think he could even get a 100,000 people, even with Keith Olbermann and Rachel Maddow helping (and make no mistake Maddow would draw the lion’s share out of the three).

The only thing  better than seeing Ed Schultz totally fail, would be the meltdown he would have from being publicly humiliated.

UPDATE: Even Glenn Beck is laughing

Video Trailer Glenn Beck’s novel The Overton Window

Glenn Beck’s novel is due out on Tuesday June 15th.  No doubt it will be number one on the New York Times’ Best Sellers list (just like every popular conservative). Upon seeing the trailer, the left has launched into fully mockery mode. Huffington Post even mocked the poetry not realizing it came from a Nobel Prize winning poet Rudyard Kipling (read the full poem here).

Meredith Jessup at Townhall tells us what is the meaning of the phrase “Overton Window”:
So what is the Overton Window? The theory is named after Joseph Overton, a former vice president of Michigan's Mackinac Center. The Goldwater Instituteexplains the theory:
The theory states that policy proposals in any given area can be arranged from the most freedom to the least free. But only a narrow window of those policy options is considered politically acceptable to politicians. This smaller list of policy options does not necessarily reflect the stance a lawmaker would prefer to take on an issue. Rather, this “window” looks onto the range of choices the lawmaker believes he or she can support and still win re-election. As ideas change in society, the window shifts to include new policies or exclude old ones.
A plan to destroy America, a hundred years in the making, is about to be unleashed . . . can it be stopped?
There is a powerful technique called the Overton Window that can shape our lives, our laws, and our future. It works by manipulating public perception so that ideas previously thought of as radical begin to seem acceptable over time. Move the Window and you change the debate. Change the debate and you change the country.
For Noah Gardner, a twentysomething public relations executive, it-s safe to say that political theory is the furthest thing from his mind. Smart, single, handsome, and insulated from the world-s problems by the wealth and power of his father, Noah is far more concerned about the future of his social life than the future of his country.
But all of that changes when Noah meets Molly Ross, a woman who is consumed by the knowledge that the America we know is about to be lost forever. She and her group of patriots have vowed to remember the past and fight for the future-but Noah, convinced they-re just misguided conspiracy-theorists, isn-t interested in lending his considerable skills to their cause.
And then the world changes.
An unprecedented attack on U.S. soil shakes the country to the core and puts into motion a frightening plan, decades in the making, to transform America and demonize all those who stand in the way. Amidst the chaos, many don-t know the difference between conspiracy theory and conspiracy fact-or, more important, which side to fight for.
But for Noah, the choice is clear: Exposing the plan, and revealing the conspirators behind it, is the only way to save both the woman he loves and the individual freedoms he once took for granted.
After five back-to-back #1 New York Times bestsellers, national radio and Fox News television host Glenn Beck has delivered a ripped-from-the-headlines thriller that seamlessly weaves together American history, frightening facts about our present condition, and a heart-stopping plot. The Overton Window will educate, enlighten, and, most important, entertain-with twists and revelations
no one will see coming.

Glenn Beck launches WeinerFacts.com - UPDATED Video added

The other day Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-NY) started a new attack against Glenn Beck. The attack basically accuses Glenn Beck and his advertiser Goldline International of conspiring to rip off customers.
Politico: A Weiner aide forwards his advisory, headed, "'Goldline' Rips Off Consumers, Profits Off Public Fears, Likely Violates Federal Law."
"The company has formed an unholy alliance with conservative pundits to drive a false narrative and play off public fears in order to sell its products," says the release. Coming soon to MSNBC...
Glenn Beck answered this attack today by launching the website WeinerFacts.com. WeinerFacts is a blog that both mocks Anthony Weiner and sheds a light on his own misdeeds. For example check out this Weiner Fact:
The FEC (Federal Election Commission) had two cases (MURs, or Matters Under Review) about everybody’s favorite Weiner. Both cases have the same name, Friends of Weiner.
MUR 4995 resulted in a $47,000.00 fine (“civil penalty”) against Weiner because of financial misconduct in one of his reelection campaigns. MUR 5429 involved an illegal $28,000.00 loan that Weiner’s parents made to one of his campaign committees.
It’s really sad when friends and families of Weiner cause so much Weiner pain.
Humm, looks like Anthony Weiner might have entered a glass house situation.

Next time Glenn; call Joe Klein a “miserable little pipsqueak”!

If you did not catch Glenn Beck’s radio or television show yesterday, Glenn told the story of his encounter with the very short and very angry Joe Klein.  On both shows Beck made it a point to tell everyone that Joel Klein is about 3 feet tall. Glenn, the correct phrase for angry little snob like Klein is a miserable little pipsqueak!

The 912 Project is 1 year old today

I was watching Glenn Beck today and the show was about the anniversary of the 9·12 Project. I know many of you readers are part of that group, so from me to you, congratulations for making a difference!

The 9/12 Project is based on 9 Principles and 12 Values, they are as follows:

Principles:
  1. America Is Good.
  2. I believe in God and He is the Center of my Life.
  3. I must always try to be a more honest person than I was yesterday.
  4. The family is sacred. My spouse and I are the ultimate authority, not the government.
  5. If you break the law you pay the penalty. Justice is blind and no one is above it.
  6. I have a right to life, liberty and pursuit of happiness, but there is no guarantee of equal results.
  7. I work hard for what I have and I will share it with who I want to. Government cannot force me to be charitable.
  8. It is not un-American for me to disagree with authority or to share my personal opinion.
  9. The government works for me. I do not answer to them, they answer to me.

Values:
* Honesty
* Reverence
* Hope
* Thrift
* Humility
* Charity
* Sincerity
* Moderation
* Hard Work
* Courage
* Personal Responsibility
* Gratitude

I never became a 9/12 Project member, but I was inspired by the original show.  The concept of “we are not alone” in our beliefs empowered me. I was empowered because; I realized that my conservative beliefs were not weird or fringe but rather very much the mainstream. It was one of the things that got me off the couch and into action. For example, I started this blog!

Below is a video clip from Beck’s original show introducing the 9/12 Project and parts of today’s anniversary show. Enjoy and to all you 9/12ers thanks again.

Glenn Beck admits that Michelle Malkin was right about Massa

After watching the Massa interview you just knew Beck was going to have to admit that Michelle Malkin was right about not giving Massa airtime. When Beck and Malkn had their spat, I was sitting on the fence between the two, but 15 minutes into the interview, I said to myself Malkin nailed this.

As Massa was talking about his tickle fights, I kept saying to myself this guy is a liar. He is lying about the allegations, he is lying about not be a closet homo, he is lying about everything. Just like Beck, I was thinking to myself, throw this man out of the studio he is wasting our time.

In case you missed Beck’s radio show, here is a clip of what he had to say about the Massa interview.

Read what others are saying at Memeorandum. Major hat tip to The Right Scoop for the videos.

Glenn Beck vs. Michelle Malkin over Eric Massa

Michelle Malkin was on Glenn Beck’s radio show today and the two had a disagreement over the value of Eric Massa. I can see both sides of the argument. I don’t think we should wrap our arms around Eric Massa and proclaim him a conservative hero as being suggested by Politico. Malkin did a fine job reminding all of us just whom we are dealing with when it comes to Eric Massa. On the other hand, giving Massa airtime to expose the true motives behind health care reform is a good thing and should his claims prove true will only help to stop this awful bill from passing.

Listen to the exchange and let me know what you think.

Eric Massa will appear on the Glenn Beck Show tomorrow

Get the TiVo ready folks, Eric Massa is taking his story to a wider audience.  Just a few hours ago, Glenn Beck made this tweet. I for one hope that Massa's story will provide the necessary push to make this dreadful health care reform crash and burn once and for all.
