Associated Press to Staff: Don’t call it Ground Zero Mosque

It looks like the Associated Press is picking sides in the Ground Zero Mosque controversy. The Associated Press’s Standards Center issued a staff advisory on how to cover the Ground Zero Mosque.
Here is some guidance on covering the NYC mosque story, with assists from Chad Roedemeier in the NYC bureau and Terry Hunt in Washington:
1. We should continue to avoid the phrase “ground zero mosque” or “mosque at ground zero” on all platforms. (We’ve very rarely used this wording, except in slugs, though we sometimes see other news sources using the term.) The site of the proposed Islamic center and mosque is not at ground zero, but two blocks away in a busy commercial area. We should continue to say it’s “near” ground zero, or two blocks away…
In short headlines, some ways to refer to the project include:
_ mosque 2 blocks from WTC site
_ Muslim (or Islamic) center near WTC site
_ mosque near ground zero
_ mosque near WTC site [MORE]

Give me a break. If AP is worried about the connotations from the name  “Ground Zero Mosque”, then they are a day late and a dollar short, because the name "Ground Zero Mosque" is already part of the American lexicon. Luckily Sarah Palin is right there to correct AP’s foolishness.
Sarah Palin via Twitter: Pelosi's investigation of Harry Reid&Howard Dean&others who oppose Ground Zero Mosque will be enlightening,we're sure.(Note to AP: GZM term)

Greg Gutfeld’s Ground Zero Muslim Gay Bar

When it comes to tolerance, two can play at that game.
From Hot Air: [Greg Gutfeld] I’m announcing tonight, that I am planning to build and open the first gay bar that caters not only to the west, but also Islamic gay men. To best express my sincere desire for dialogue, the bar will be situated next to the mosque Park51, in an available commercial space.
This is not a joke. I’ve already spoken to a number of investors, who have pledged their support in this bipartisan bid for understanding and tolerance.
As you know, the Muslim faith doesn’t look kindly upon homosexuality, which is why I’m building this bar. It is an effort to break down barriers and reduce deadly homophobia in the Islamic world.
The goal, however, is not simply to open a typical gay bar, but one friendly to men of Islamic faith. An entire floor, for example, will feature non-alcoholic drinks, since booze is forbidden by the faith. The bar will be open all day and night, to accommodate men who would rather keep their sexuality under wraps – but still want to dance.’ [MORE]
The Ground Zero Mosque is creating a real swinging neighborhood. Gutfeld is opening a gay bar and Sam from The Last Tradition wants to open a Rib Shack and Victoria Secret Center.   It will be interesting to see just how “tolerant” the Mosque and its supporter can be as Ground Zero becomes the new Village.

VIDEO: NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s emotional defense of Ground Zero Mosque

After watching this video, I have decided to keep my eyes peeled to see if Mayor Bloomberg keeps to his words the next time the Christian faith requires the same defense. Somehow, I doubt Mr. Bloomberg will be able to see things so clearly.

While Bloomberg is correct in his words about America defending religious freedom, he like so many liberal elites refuses to understand and believe that the Islamic faith currently has a cancer. That cancer is Islamic extremism. To pretend that this problem doesn’t exist is an invitation to disaster.

What most Americans want is for our elected officials to show some caution when dealing with the Islamic faith. Since peaceful Muslims seem unwilling or incapable of eradicating the extreme elements within their faith, then caution is the order of the day. Treating the Islamic faith with caution may not jive with the sacred doctrines of diversity or tolerance, but attacks like 9-11 make it a necessity.

Founder of Ground Zero mosque has ties to Gaza Flotilla

New York Post: The imam behind a proposed mosque near Ground Zero is a prominent member of a group that helped sponsor the pro-Palestinian activists who clashed violently with Israeli commandos at sea this week.
Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf is a key figure in Malaysian-based Perdana Global Peace Organization, according to its Website.
Perdana is the single biggest donor ($366,000) so far to the Free Gaza Movement, a key organizer of the six-ship flotilla that tried to break Israel's blockade of the Hamas-run Gaza Strip Monday. [MORE]
This story does not surprise me in the least. Just the fact that Rauf wants to build the mosque near Ground Zero should have been the tip off. With all the places in New York City to build a mosque, especially neighborhoods that have a large Muslim population, Rauf wants to place it near Ground Zero.

I think the reason for the location is so that the mosque can serve as a symbol of Muslim victory over the west. The very name of the mosque is a reference to battle where Islam triumphed over the west.  Given NYC officials’ high susceptibly to Political Correctness, it was pretty much guaranteed that the mosque was going to be approved. Now that this little bit of information about Rauf has come to light, watch New York City officials twist themselves like pretzels to justify their decision rather than rescind the approval.

I really wish that those folks, who make themselves slaves to the concept of tolerance, would at the very least seek tolerance in return. This one-way street tolerance game is getting quite stale.
