WaPo & NYT to The Palin Haters: All Hands On Deck!

Tomorrow the state of Alaska will release over 24,000 emails from Sarah Palin's yahoo account. To say the left is salivating at the chance to find/ make up new dirt on Palin would be an understatement. So rabid is their hatred for Palin both the Washington Post and The New York Times are asking their readers to help in the muckraking (mudslinging).
The New York Times: On Friday, the State of Alaska will release more than 24,000 of Sarah Palin’s e-mails covering much of her tenure as governor of Alaska. Times reporters will be in Juneau, the state capital, to begin the process of reviewing the e-mails, which we will be posting on NYtimes.com starting on Friday afternoon.
We’re asking readers to help us identify interesting and newsworthy e-mails, people and events that we may want to highlight. Interested users can fill out a simple form to describe the nature of the e-mail, and provide a name and e-mail address so we’ll know who should get the credit. Join us here on Friday afternoon and into the weekend to participate.
The Washington Post: Over 24,000 e-mail messages to and from former Alaska governorSarah Palin during her tenure as Alaska's governor will be released Friday. That's a lot of e-mail for us to review so we're looking for some help from Fix readers to analyze, contextualize, and research those e-mails right alongside Post reporters over the days following the release.
We are limiting this to just 100 spots for people who will work collaboratively in small teams to surface the most important information from the e-mails. Participants can join from anywhere with a computer and an Internet connection.
The Washington Post appears to have jumped the shark a little too much. The blistering response from the reader's comments has forced them to drop the idea of hand picking their Palin Haters. WaPo will instead follow the New York Times model.

This method of using readers to dig dirt is actually called crowd sourcing. It is a method of mine data. What I want to know is why didn't the New York Times or the Washington Post employ this method on something that is truly vital to America like the 3,000 pages of ObamaCare. We all know no one in Washington read that monster before it passed. Yet, here are two supposedly legitimate newspapers getting a mob together to create a Palin Hating gang bang. The whole thing reeks of media bias and fascism to me.

One thing for sure, Sarah Palin's greatest strength is that she generates so much hate from the left, that they are willing to drop all their phony veneers of compassion, tolerance, objectivity, you name it just to smear her. This unmasking will only work in her favor.

You know what would serve The Washington Post and The New York Times right? If everyone who likes Palin or who hates media bias read the emails and just draw attention to the nice ones. You know point out emails where Palin says something nice to her kids or shares a recipe or does something for a constituent. We should flood both papers with a gazzion tips on how wonderful Palin is. Make both newspapers sift through more tips than the actual number of emails just to find the dirt they are looking for. Hey, in these tough economic times, if we have to work like dogs to make a living, shouldn't the folks at WaPo and the Times have to do the same?

By the way, make sure to check out the comment at The Washington Post, they are blistering

Obama's Osama bounce goes bye-bye

Washington Post: The public opinion boost President Obama received after the killing of Osama bin Laden has dissipated, and Americans’ disapproval of how he is handling the nation’s economy and the deficit has reached new highs, according to a new Washington Post-ABC News poll.
The survey portrays a broadly pessimistic mood in the country this spring as higher gasoline prices, sliding home values and a disappointing employment picture have raised fresh concerns about the pace of the economic recovery.
By 2 to 1, Americans say the country is pretty seriously on the wrong track, and nine in 10 continue to rate the economy in negative terms. Nearly six in 10 say the economy has not started to recover, regardless of what official statistics may say, and most of those who say it has improved rate the recovery as weak. [MORE]
No one should be surprised by Obama losing his Osama bounce. No one can eat a dead Osama, no one can fill their tank with a dead Osama and no one can pay their bills with a dead Osama. It is all about the economy and this WaPo/ABC News poll shows Americans are not feeling Obama on all matters of the economy.
Overall, about six in 10 of those surveyed give Obama negative marks on the economy and the deficit. Significantly, nearly half strongly disapprove of his performance in these two crucial areas. Nearly two-thirds of political independents disapprove of the president’s handling of the economy, including — for the first time — a slim majority who do so strongly.
In another indicator of rapidly shifting views on economic issues, 45 percent trust congressional Republicans over the president when it comes to dealing with the economy, an 11-point improvement for the GOP since March. Still, nearly as many, 42 percent, side with Obama on this issue.
The president has sought to point to progress on the economy, particularly in the automobile industry, and to argue that the policies he put in place at the beginning of his term are working. But the combined effects of weak economic indicators and dissatisfaction among the public are adding to the political pressures on the White House as the president’s advisers look toward what could be a difficult 2012 reelection campaign.
Talked up individual economic indicators and talk about how much worse things might have been, won't save Obama from a reelection defeat if the public doesn't feel significant improvements in the economy. Obama has less than a year and a half to bring this economy back. Failure to do so will certainly spell the end of the Obama administration and usher in a Republican president.

That brings us to the second part of the WaPo/ABC News poll. The poll shows Mitt Romney taking a slight lead over Obama (49/46). All other GOP contenders are behind. This part of the poll, I pretty much dismiss. It is just too early to take these match up polls seriously. Case in point, Newt Gingrich does second best against Obama at 44% to Obama's 50%. Given Gingrich's early meltdown these numbers should be far worse. The reason they are not is because most Americans are not focused on 2012 yet. Once the primaries and debates start in earnest, I expect these numbers to change dramatically.

UPDATED: David Weigel just another fake, phony and fraud conservative

David Weigel is the Washington Post’s latest pet conservative. Cut from the same cloth as David Brooks, Weigel’s job is to offer "conservative commentary" and to offer cover to the Washington Post so that they can pretend they are “fair and balanced”. Read any of Weigel’s columns and you get the feeling it was written by some liberal pretending to be impartial.

If Weigel’s opinions weren’t enough to tip you off that he is a sham conservative, his now exposed emails to very liberal JournoList will. FishbowlDC got their hands on some of those emails and published them.
•"This would be a vastly better world to live in if Matt Drudge decided to handle his emotional problems more responsibly, and set himself on fire."
•"Follow-up to one hell of a day: Apparently, the Washington Examinerthought it would be fun to write up an item about my dancing at the wedding of Megan McArdle and Peter Suderman. Said item included the name and job of my girlfriend, who was not even there -- nor in DC at all."
•"I'd politely encourage everyone to think twice about rewarding theExaminer with any traffic or links for a while. I know the temptation is high to follow up hot hot Byron York scoops, but please resist it."
•"It's all very amusing to me. Two hundred screaming Ron Paul fanatics couldn't get their man into the Fox News New Hampshire GOP debate, but Fox News is pumping around the clock to get Paultard Tea Party people on TV."
Weigel has now issued an apology for the emails claiming he was just having a really bad day or something. Keep the apology Dave! We all know what is going on here.

Basically, Weigel pretends to be conservative so that he can have a big and cushy job with the MSM. His formula is to study enough of the right so that he doesn't sound like your typical knee jerk liberal. He then goes about supporting the left by finding some way to pan the right. We get the M.O., it’s tired, it’s trifflin’ and oh so transparent. So can we all just stop pretending that Weigel is a conservative or has conservatism’s best interest at heart?

UPDATE: Weigel Resigns
Fishbowl DC: FIRST ON FBDC: FishbowlDC has confirmed that WaPo conservative-beat blogger Dave Weigel has resigned after a slew of his anti-conservative comments and emails surfaced on FishbowlDC and Daily Caller over the last two days.
A spokesperson for the Post said the paper will not offer additional comments but confirmed that the writer's resignation was accepted.
I guess WaPo will be putting up a classified ad for another “conservative” to take his place. Here is a thought for you WaPo, rather than signing up another sham conservative, how about hiring a real one for a change? Think about it, just a single unapologetic pro conservative column would probably generate more traffic than any of the predictable pieces Weigel could have thrown together.

I hear this guy is available and he can write his ass off too!
