The battle cry has been made today by the National Review, The Wall Street Journal and the Weekly Standard. Bill Kristol at the Weekly Standard points out the obvious Achilles
heel in ObamaCare:
Luckily, key parts of Obamacare--especially the subsidies--don’t go into effect until 2014. So what Republicans have to do is to make the 2010 and the 2012 elections referenda on Obamacare, win those elections, and then repeal Obamacare.
He is right, it is the subsidies that makes the program addictive. Right now all that exist the is pain of taxes. Republican majorities in 2010 and 2012 will be able to do the trick along with a Republican president. However a very important key element will be required and that is principle. Without principled Republicans, repeal will be impossible.
Too many RINOs will be more than willing to play “fix it” rather than do the hard work of repealing ObamaCare. We are going to have to pick our candidates with the utmost care for the next two election cycles. Simply picking fiscally conservative candidates will not be enough, we must choose principled candidates who sees the threat of too much power in Washington.
Start researching your candidates now. Don’t just listen to their speeches, but check their history as well. Pick them with the utmost care. Remember the goal is to repeal ObamaCare.
