Liberal tongues are going to be ablaze over this one. Talk of impeachment and views of revolvers sure to have the left screaming “sedition”! Politico has already picked up on this video.
Politico: Alabama Republican congressional candidate Rick Barber is encouraging his fellow tea party activists to “gather your armies” against President Barack Obama — with a campaign ad that twice shows a hand fidgeting next to a Revolutionary War-era pistol.
In the new ad, Barber is seen sitting around the table with actors playing George Washington, Benjamin Franklin and Sam Adams.
The ad opens with a shot of the pistol sitting on a table and Barber saying he would “impeach” Obama.
While there is absolutely nothing wrong with talking about impeaching Obama (unless you stop to consider the ramifications of a President Biden), even I have to admit the focus on the revolver is way too suggestive. Anger at Obama and particularly Congress is at a level not seen in years. The suggestion of armed conflict isn’t the best thing to have out there right now.
The video does serve as a reminder of just how placid Americans have become in over 200 years. At the founding of this nation, the arrogant and self-serving behavior from today’s non-representing representatives (on both sides) would have earned them a cap in the ass from more than have the public. Today, simply asking a House Rep a question might get you roughed up.
