Bristol Palin and Levi Johnston engaged

Bristol, Bristol, Bristol what on earth are you thinking?
US Weekly: Bristol Palin and Levi Johnston reveal exclusively in the new Us Weekly that they are getting married.
And, they tell Us Weekly, former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin has been kept in the dark about their plans ... until now.
"We got engaged two weeks ago," Bristol, 19, tells Us Weekly. "It felt right, even though we don’t have the approval of our parents."
Bristol and Levi, 20 -- who famously called off their previous engagement two weeks after welcoming son Tripp in December 2008 -- tell Us Weekly they reconnected three months ago while working out a custody plan for their 18-month-old son.
"I really thought we were over," Levi tells Us Weekly. "So when I went, I had no hope. I think we both just started talking — and then we took Tripp for a walk."
Says Bristol, "When he left that night, we didn’t hug or kiss, but I was thinking how different it was. He texted me: 'I miss you. I love you. I want to be with you again' ... I was in shock."
She was in shock? Todd and Sarah are going to be in mega shock when they find out this news. Bristol really needs to do some serious thinking about this. First, letting her parents find out via a tabloid is shameful. Second, making up with someone who transgressed against your family is a little hard for me to grasp. Then again, all we only really know about Levi is from the news, Bristol is the one who knows him intimately.  Perhaps he really is sincere and that is for Bristol to decide.

Personally, I think selling lies about a family’s private life is an unforgivable sin and no amount of Mea Culpas could change that. I think of my two sisters who are far better Christians than I am, and I cannot imagine either of them giving a guy like Levi a second chance. Sure they could forgive him, but they would never ever allow him the opportunity back into the family again.

Politically, if Levi is truly reformed, this is an up for Palin. If she runs, she won’t have to worry about Levi creating tabloid news ever five minutes. Sarah released a very tactful statement to Good Morning America. Notice the part about redemption.
"As parents, we obviously want what is best for our children, but Bristol is ultimately in charge of determining what is best for her and her beautiful son," Sarah and Todd Palin said in an exclusive statement to "Good Morning America." "Bristol believes in redemption and forgiveness to a degree most of us struggle to put in practice in our daily lives."
"We pray that, as a couple, Bristol and Levi's relationship matures into one that will allow Tripp to grow up graced with two loving parents in his life," they said.
I think it is safe to say that Sarah does not have that level of redemption for Levi (I know I don’t). It is pretty obvious that Bristol’s choice certainly isn’t shared by Sarah.

In the end, I hope it all works out. The Palins have had to endure so much simply because the left feels threatened.
